PHYSICAL PROPERTIES:

Heart wood is pale cream to golden brown in color, with luster; sapwood is straw to pale brown. Flecks are visible on radial faces. Texture is fine and the grain mainly straight.

Air-dry density is 540kgm3. Shrinkage is medium.

MECHANICAL PROPERTIES:

Strength group S5(green), SD5(seasoned). Dakua Makdre is comparable with Douglas fir (pseudotsugamenziesii) in hardness

WORKING PROPERTIES

The timber is easy to saw and machine. Turning properties are excellent and the timber can be drilled cleanly with little chipping. Planed surfaces are very smooth, with only slight chipping in region of reverse grain
